The wait is finally over... the EZG-50 is here! The EZG-50 has a very definitive 6L6 clean sound. Whether you are lusting after the classic "El Mocambo" tone, looking to surf the big waves, or want twang straight out of Bakersfield. The EZG-50 will satisfy the most discriminating blackface tone seeker. This is a sound that has been missing in the Z line up until now.
Much time and care was taken in the development of the EZG-50. The seed of the amp came from a new 6L6 output transformer designed for Z Amps by Ken Fischer. The output transformer has a very unique impedance not used by other American amp makers. This is one of the key factors to the EZG-50s sound.
NOS Allen Bradley carbon comp resistors are used in all critical tone positions of the EZG-50 circuit. These classic resistors add a warmth and depth to the tone that only they can give. more

Z28 4x10 Combo

The Z-28 is a 6V6 based amp. It utilizes the format of the Route 66, that is, a EF-86 pre- amp, a unique Volume, Bass, and Treble full drive tone stack, and a tube rectified power supply. The Z-28 is rated at approximately 22 watts, so it fits under the Route 66 and the KT-45. It has a more American type tone, which some have described as Brown Tolexed Deluxe. The sweet sparkle of the 6V6 is ever present, along with a smooth full distortion at a very useable volume level. I have maintained a very tight bottom end, something that has been lacking in some 6V6 designs. Electro-Harmonix 6V6 at a reasonable 375 Volt plate level, I was very impressed with this tube and knew I had to design an amp which used it. more

A collaboration between Master Tele Player Brad Paisley, and Master Amp Builder Mike Zaite has given birth to the all new Prescription Extra Strength. The new "RX ES" is completely revised, from the input jacks to the output jacks it shares no circuits with old RX.
The RX ES design structure is unique for a DR.Z Amp, it uses an EF -86 pentode set up in a post EQ gain layout. This alignment yields a rich harmonic complexity and an almost active response from the tone stack. Its dual calibrated inputs allow for sustaining gain in the Hi input, and a rich warm clean in the Lo input jack. The RX ES also features a footswitchable "Overdose" mode, which engages a 3 dB boost for added drive and gain without altering the preset tone, same EQ'd tone just much more DRIVE. more

You can turn it up to get maximum output tube distortion and dial it back to apartment dweller approved levels…tons of singing sustain that you can talk over. Oh yeah... the new 2006 Dr.Z Stang Ray is here. For years I have had this tone in my head - that early AC-30 tone. The pre Top-Boost piano-like tone, like the opening cord to " Hard Day's Night "... that big healthy CLANG sound to me is like a Grand Piano.
Well I have captured that tone in the Stang Ray. Its notes are thick but still articulate. Its sound is full and defined, but not thin. It is full of rich resonance with deep sustain. It is brilliant with shimmering top end, but no inner ear pain. Strong mids that don't pinch off, and a rich warm low end that stays defined and blends for a 3 dimensional balance.

Dr. Z's newest creation, the Stang Ray (briefly known as the Stingray and Mantaray), is the result of his second collaboration with superstar country guitarist Brad Paisley. After the success of their first partnership, the Prescription Extra Strength, Dr.Z and Brad Paisley wanted to develop an amplifier that offered an additional pallet of tones to work alongside the Prescription Extra Strength.
Using the classic setup of a quartet of el84's biased close to true Class A at 30 watts, the new Stang Ray tips its hat to classic British tones, but like all Dr.Z amps, has its own unique voice. The preamp uses an EF-86, and it has a 12AX7 phase inverter. Tone shaping is accomplished with Volume, Tone, and Cut controls, giving you the ability to dial up a warm tone, but with sweet 3k range brilliance for beautiful upper treble and nice low-midrange control. The output transformer was designed by Ken Fischer (Trainwreck), who also worked with Dr.Z on the Airbrake. more

Z Air Brake:
The Z Air Brake has two major applications. One is for stage use, the other is for studio or home use.
For stage
use, the Z Air Brake is a useful tool to limit your overall dB level at
any time during a performance.
Example: the beginning of the night (when the club isn't full) click the
Air Brake to a level of attenuation to allow for smooth tone at a lower
volume level. As the night progresses, reach back and remove degrees of
attenuation until the desired level is reached. This will allow you to
manage your amp's overall volume without varying from your amp's favorite
settings.
At home,
the Air Brake is useful for lower volume while still allowing for full
output tube distortion. The Air Brake has a "bedroom" level
control that, when selected, will allow for fine adjustment and maximum
attenuation down to 1 watt (with amps less than 100 watts.)

Dr Z Brake Lite:
The new Z Brake Lite Attenuator will be right at home mounted inside your combo amp. Like the Airbrake, there is no sacrifice in tone. Perfect for dialing in your combo to it’s sweet spot while dialing back the volume level.
The Brake Lite works with any tube amp up to 45 watts and can be used with 4, 8, or 16, ohm loads. Very simple to install, the Brake Lite mounts with 2 screws and has a hardwired speaker cable to plug into the amp chassis. Plug the speaker into the Brake Lite and you are ready to go.
Please note: the Brake Lite is NOT a stand alone unit and needs to be mounted in a combo for proper operation.
